About

Wesley: Who are you? Are we enemies? Why am I on this wall? Where’s Buttercup?
Inigo: Let me ‘splain. … No, there is too much. Let me sum up.

This is my Weblog. There are many like it, but this one is mine. If you’ve been here before, welcome back: we’ve been away for the past four and a half years, but I think the time is right for us to restart something we once had. If you’re new here — I’m Mike. I travel, I write, I take care of sick people, I cook, I take pictures, and I fly. And I’m hungry for more. This is my blog.

Once upon a time there was a blog called Under a Blackened Sky. Around the fall and winter of 2004 I got kind of tired of the thing, couldn’t even stand to look at it, really. So I shelved it. Blogs were getting stale. Everyone and their dog had one. They were going to change the world, or so the blogpundits said.

It’s five years later. I’m five years older. Blogs are still supposed to change the world, but the idea that we shouldn’t take them so friggin’ seriously is starting to take root. Naturally, it’s time for me to start taking the blog as a medium seriously again. (It’s not the Internet if you’re not screwing around regularly.)

Why else? Well, for one thing, I’ve re-started 365 Days. It’s going to live at a different URL on this site, though, because I need to preserve the original one for posterity — taking one picture a day isn’t as cool or as radical as it used to be, and I want it known that my inspiration for this project was… my own inspiration for this project.

Oh. You want to know what this blog is about? New to the Internet, are you? Why don’t you just read the damn thing and find out, huh? Smart guy? Yeah. You know what you need to do.
